Katarzyna Wagner (b. 1995)
BA (Hons) Fine Art - Bath Spa University, Bath School of Art and Design (2014-2017)
MA Fine Art - University of Southampton, Winchester School of Art (2017-2018)
Polish artist, currently working in Southampton, UK. Wagner works predominantly with oil painting and photography, responding to cultural atrophy by documenting architectural structures in transitional periods. Windows in these structures serve as a vehicle for these ideas, as they can frame a composition evocative of both an abstract painting and reflections of the world. Wagner maintains the natural colour of canvas, not only to mute the colours, but also to mark the temporal ambivalence of the scene - between dematerialising and emerging. Her paintings suggest possibilities of a cultural frontier between an edge of civilisation and beginning of another.
